ABOUT EVANGELINE
Hi there! My name is Evangeline Nelson. I am currently teaching 3rd Grade in Charlotte, NC. I recently discovered my passion for teaching while working at a free preschool program called Tutu and Me on the island of Oahu during a gap year from college.
Here are a few statements at the core of what I believe as an aspiring educator and life-long learner. I believe that people matter and, therefore, should be treated with love and respect. I believe that this world is large and there are so many questions to ask- as a teacher, your approach to learning can either encourage or stifle the curiosity of a student. I believe that every person has an inherent desire to grow and learn, and it is an educator's job to encourage and aid each unique child on their path of growth and discovery. I believe that children will rise to the standards that we set, so I will expect a lot from my students, but let them know that they need to expect a lot of me as well.
When I am not pursuing my passion of teaching I enjoy exploring the great outdoors, collecting stories with new and old friends, advocating for the conservation of the environment, concocting new recipes in my test kitchen or immersing myself in a good book.
